Who is the My Creatures team?<\/strong><\/p>

Basically just me. I create the designs, content, social media, emails and keep the site up to date. There is however a huge family behind all of that, a support group of people who always help out. Teemill provide all of the sustainable products, the low waste printing and the zero plastic distribution. You can read more about the story of how they go about all that here <\/a>. Also, I'm able to call on a wonderful, willing group of helpers when it comes to photoshoots.<\/p>

What made you start My Creatures Clothing?<\/strong><\/p>

Back in 2016 I'd been attempting a few bits and pieces of geometric art and was asked by a fellow ethical t-shirt brand and friend of mine to submit a design for his website 'Call of the Brave'.<\/p>

I enjoyed that creative process and the positive feedback so much so that I thought I could give it a proper go.<\/h3><\/blockquote>

I had 5 or 6 designs ready to go and I was adamant that it would be as sustainable and ethical as possible. Another friend of mine pointed me towards Teemill, where I was able to set up a shop and an entire brand in a matter of a few days. Teemill is able to provide the ethically made product, the sustainable processing and the plastic free packaging - the perfect platform for the brand I wanted to create.<\/p>

Why are you called 'My Creatures'?<\/strong><\/p>

I had this idea as a website name years before the brand. I simply liked how similar 'My Creatures' is to my name; Marc Richards.<\/p>

What do you enjoy most about running My Creatures?<\/strong><\/p>

Mostly just how nice people are. I get such nice comments on social media and from friends and family.<\/p>

I also love how it could potentially influence people in to thinking about how their clothes are made.<\/h3><\/blockquote>

A big thing for me is the ethics; we're a small brand where the production line pays people a wage where they can live well, rather than the big brands of the world who are more interested in the profits rather than the people. Also Teemill have managed to create a circular tee from any returned products, meaning our t-shirts should never have to end up in landfill. That's also quite pleasing.<\/p>

Where do you get the inspirations for your designs from?<\/strong><\/p>

I've always been an animal lover. As far back as I can remember I've drawn and painted animals and it doesn't seem to have stopped. Inspiration predominantly comes from the natural world - I spend a lot of time out walking and often will come home and sketch an idea. It won't necessarily end up as the wildlife I've seen but that's where the idea would have originated.<\/p>

Which is your favourite design?<\/strong><\/p>

Tough one. I really like the Peregrine Falcon Stoop T-Shirt<\/a>. I like the dark blue print and the angle the bird is diving at - it looks so bold and simple, but took me ages and several attempts to get the lino print how I wanted it. I'm also quite partial to the Fractal Bat<\/a> - the exploded low poly style is something I haven't done much of, but am keen to explore more.<\/p>

What next for My Creatures Clothing?<\/strong><\/p>

I've been hoping for a long time to manoeuvre My Creatures into a position where I can donate profits to an animal conservation charity. The reality is that our position as a species, our demand and greed, is having a devastating affect on the eco systems, from the microscopic to the gigantic, and nature and wildlife need us to help out. I, as I'm sure many others out there do, feel a little powerless in what I can do, but donations to charities that do have that power will help make inroads.<\/p>

One thing we should know about you?<\/strong><\/p>

I'm actually Half Buzzard\/Half Cornish.<\/p>
